Gratefully busy!

Holy cow, have I been busy! When I started this blog, I had completely intended on posting at least twice a month, but I can say with gratitude that I have been so busy with orders I just haven’t had the time. Not the worst problem to have, but I apologize.

April started off with a bang. A friend asked for an airplane cake for his brother, and we found the coolest idea for a cake that would look like the airplane was flying around the cake when spun. I was a bit nervous, but it turned out great and was not as hard as I anticipated. This was for Easter weekend, which started out slowly, but ended with the airplane cake, a carrot cake, carmelitas, and of course a batch of easter egg cookies. I enjoy making Easter egg cookies more than dying the actual eggs as a kid.

April ended with a cute beach theme set of cupcakes for a very special birthday, a beautiful bridal shower cake, and Bridgerton/tea party themed bridal shower cookies. Again, I said yes to many things that made me so nervous to take on, but so happy I did! I learn something new with every order, and I am absolutely loving it! It is an understatement to say that I have found my true joy in life. A hobby that makes me smile!

May has been busy too! I made some super cute penguin and snowball cupcakes for a 3 year old who shares my love for penguins! I am a Pinterest freak and am constantly looking up penguin treats I can make but never have had a good reason to follow through. I got my chance and it was so much fun!

The next week was Mother’s Day and I received a request for basketball themed Mother’s day cookies. My son is 23 and lives about 2 hours from me. He is a busy guy, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He coaches basketball so making these cookies kind of felt at home with him. It was an order that I thought would be easy, but I am a perfectionist and want everything exactly as I envision it. They turned out great and I made 48 mamas happy!

The same week I made a Blippie cake. Who is Blippie? Well, I had to google image search it and learned it’s from Barbie Fairytopia. Something I never knew about. I don’t have girls in my life to show me these things, but this is another reason I love making all the orders. I get introduced to so many fun things! I originally thought this was for an eight year old, but upon cake pick up learned it was for a 20 year old. Even better! I love it when someone taps into their inner child and wants to celebrate in a childlike way!

This last week I made Spiderman cookies and they were so much fun! I also had an order that celebrated all the good things in life! And now it is Memorial weekend. My husband and I are camping. I made sourdough bread because we love eggs and sourdough for breakfast and it’s even better coming from our camper here in northeastern Minnesota. It’s camping season. We camp about every other weekend with a bunch of friends. It is always fun and a good break from reality. With that though, it makes for an even busier time of life and farmers markets are about to start. Ahhhhh! I warned Andy, it’s about to get real crazy! I will be doing two farmers markets a month. It’s my first time and I am so excited and so scared. They are both smaller markets and I think they will be a great start. I’m hoping to meet some great people and looking forward to a twist on Saturday mornings.

So, I will be spending the next couple weeks getting ready for markets and a very crazy June! Bridal showers, baby showers, graduations, and weddings, oh my! Couldn’t ask for more! I have had so much fun in getting stuff for my stand, prepping menus, and planning, planning, planning and all the baking in between. Stay tuned for my farmers market adventures!
